ERDOGAN WARNS ON KIRKUK
Speaking before his departure for Davos, Switzerland, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Turkey is very sensitive on the issue of Kirkuk and that the possibility of shift of power to Kurds there would not be welcomed by Turkey. ''The UN and US should not permit a negative development in Kirkuk,'' said Erdogan. ''Such a permit's consequences will be paid by the UN and US.''

GREEK CYPRIOT ADMINISTRATION: ''YES, WE HAVE SHOT THE TURKISH SOLDIER LAST WEEK''
The Greek Cypriot defense ministry admitted that the person who shot the Turkish soldier on Friday, January 21st around the Kaymakli region of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) was a Greek Cypriot soldier from the Greek Cypriot national army. The Greek Cypriot soldier has been given a disciplinary punishment.
