LEFKOSA (AA) - Greek Cypriot newspapers reported today (Thursday) that the Greek Cypriot defense ministry admitted that the person who shot the Turkish soldier on Friday, January 21st around the Kaymakli region of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) was a Greek Cypriot soldier from the Greek Cypriot national army.
The Greek Cypriot soldier has been given a disciplinary punishment. According to the Greek Cypriot media, the Greek Cypriot soldier has been found guilty for not obeying orders.
The Greek Cypriot administration expressed sadness over the shooting incident on January 21st. The TRNC has not made any comment on the incident.
