ANKARA (AA) - Turkish FM & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul's letter addressed to the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan on Iraq has been published as a UN document. According to information received by the AA correspondent, Gul's letter was elaborating on Turkish views and concerns on Iraq. Diplomatic sources said that, upon a country's request, letters sent to the UN may be published as an official document and distributed to all members. ''Hence, Turkey's views on Iraq have been brought to the attention of all the UN members,'' they said.
In his letter Gul indicated, without giving any direct reference to Iraqi Kurds, that the attempts to change the demographic balance in Kirkuk and illegitimate population move in the region, are still going on.
Gul noted that the January 30th elections in Iraq may be considered as a referendum for the independence of northern Iraq and expressed concern about the future of Iraq.
