ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish soccer club Besiktas have parted ways with Spanish coach Vicente Del Bosque due to unsuccessful results and replaced him with Riza Calimbay, trainer of Turkish first division side Caykur Rizespor and former Besiktas player and captain.
Besiktas's president Yildirim Demiroren and members of the club's executive board decided to sack the embattled Spanish coach following their Turkish Cup qualifying round defeat against Konyaspor at their home ground last week. Besiktas were also out of the UEFA Cup as they couldn't make the group stage against Athletic Bilbao of Spain, Steaua Bucharest of Romania and Standard Liege on Belgium.
Besiktas are currently fifth and 14 points behind Fenerbahce who lead the first division with 43 points.
