Sarigul Discloses His Candidacy For C.H.P. Leadership

ANKARA (AA) - Mustafa Sarigul, the mayor of Sisli district of Istanbul, disclosed on Thursday his candidacy for the Republican People's Party (CHP) leadership.
     Holding a news conference, Sarigul recalled that the extraordinary congress of the CHP would be held between January 29th and 30th to elect a new leader.
     Criticizing the CHP leadership, Sarigul said, ''the congress will be a milestone, and beginning of a new era for the CHP which could not come to political power on its own for 56 years. I observed that members of the CHP want a serious change in the party.''
     ''The current leadership of the CHP is unsuccessful. It has failed to put forward any proposal to resolve problems of Turkey. They are fond of their position instead of Turkey and Turkish people. They are talking about ethics and identity. Actually, they have destroyed the identity of the CHP,'' Sarigul added.
