U.N.F.I.C.Y.P.: The Shooting Incident Caused By A Greek Cypriot Soldier Is A Violation And Has Been Recorded As Such

LEFKOSA (AA) - The UN Peace-keeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) spokesman Brian Kelly has stated that the shooting of a Turkish soldier by a Greek Cypriot soldier from the Greek Cypriot national army is a clear ''violation.''
     In an exclusive interview with the Turkish News Agency in Cyprus (TAK), Kelly said that everything that takes place at the border is under UN observance.
     ''As the UN, we have made the necessary investigation after the shooting incident which resulted in wounding of a Turkish soldier. According to the UNFICYP, this incident is a violation and has been recorded in UN documents as such,'' remarked Kelly.
     Brian Kelly expressed sadness over the shooting incident.
     The Greek Cypriot administration's defense ministry earlier announced that, on the night of January 21st, a Turkish soldier on duty at the Kaymakli region was shot and wounded by a Greek Cypriot soldier.
