Croatian President Ivo Josipovic said on Monday that relations between Turkey and Croatia were factors that would ensure stability in the region and in Europe.
Speaking at a joint news conference with Turkish President Abdullah Gul, Josipovic said Croatia attached high importance to relations with Turkey.
Josipovic said there was not any single problematic issue between Turkey and Croatia, underlining that he hoped successful cooperation carried out in NATO and the Mediterranean region would continue similarly in the EU.
Croatian president said they assessed political and common issues as well as regional cooperation. "There is cooperation in tourism area, and cooperation in economy can be better than today’s conditions," he said.
Referring to Turkey’s role in Afghanistan, Josipovic said he thought cooperation between Turkey and Croatia would make important contributions to world peace and cooperation.
Josipovic is the first Croatian president visiting Turkey officially in six years.
President Josipovic will proceed to Istanbul on March 15 after holding talks with Turkish authorities in Ankara.
