ISTANBUL - Turkish President Abdullah Gul on Tuesday hit the opening gong of Istanbul Stock Exchange (ISE) for women to mark International Women’s Day.
Gul congratulated International Women’s Day in the ISE opening session where Union of Chambers & Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) chairman Rifat Hisarciklioglu and members of TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Board attended.
Referring to role of women in decision mechanisms in developed economies and societies, Gul said women should be active in all segments.
"We see that day by day women are represented more and assume role in every area in Turkey," Gul said and noted that women would be represented more in politics.
Gul said there was no obstacle for women in the business world, "the more they exert efforts, the more they will be encouraged. They should know that doors will be opened to them," he stated.
