Turkey’s communication company, Turk Telekom, has purchased Pantel International that has 30,000-km fiber optic network in 16 countries, the director said on Wednesday.
Turk Telekom’s Director General Gökhan Bozkurt said the company had spread its communication infrastructure to Europe by purchasing the leading wholesale capacity and data services provider in the CEE region.
"Turk Telekom’s technology and infrastructure investments reached 9 billion Turkish liras-TL (5.6 billion USD) in five years," Bozkurt told the Anatolia news agency.
Bozkurt said the number of ADSL users in Turkey had been up to 7 million, and the data use per person was up to 15 gigabytes from 6 in two years.
Turk Telekom Group’s consolidated sales income was up 2.7 percent year-on-year in 2010 and reached 10.9 billion TL (6.7 billion USD).
The net profit of the group was 2.4 million TL (1.4 million USD) in 2010.
