"Ankara" ferry, carrying Turkish citizens as well as foreign nationals, departed from Tripoli, Libya on Tuesday.
Turkish Foreign Ministry stated that "Ankara" ferry was carrying 1,049 passengers including 161 Turkish nationals, and the rest were foreigners who were working for Turkish companies in Libya.
The ferry, which left Tripoli at 2:20 p.m., is expected to arrive in Istanbul, Turkey within 77 hours.
So far, Turkey has evacuated 17,734 people, including 577 foreign nationals, from Libya, Turkish foreign minister said on Monday.
Two Turks died in the uprising in Libya. Yunus Emre Celik was shot to death, while Saban Durmus passed away due to heart attack.
According to unconfirmed reports, around 1,000 people have been killed in Libya during protests against Muammar Gaddafi’s 42-year reign.
