Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Monday met with his U.S. counterpart Hillary Clinton in Geneva on the sidelines of a meeting of the UN’s Human Rights Council.
Diplomatic sources close to the one-hour meeting said Davutoglu and Clinton discussed latest issues and developments in the regional countries including Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, Bahrain and Yemen.
The top diplomats discussed recent developments regarding Iran’s nuclear program and its uranium enrichment activities as well as relations between Turkey and the United States.
Sources said Clinton’s visit to Turkey, which had been postponed earlier, also came up during the meeting but no date has been scheduled for the visit.
Separately, Davutoglu met with Catherine Ashton, European Union’s high representative for security and foreign affairs, as well with his Austrian counterpart Michael Spindelegger.
Davutoglu is expected to meet with his British and Iranian counterparts as well.
