A total of 821 Turks, who were evacuated from Libya, were brought in Turkey by planes on Monday.
Turks were brought by one Air Libya, two Turkish Airlines (THY) and one private evacuation planes, stated Turkish Prime Ministry press center.
Earlier in the day, it was stated that a THY plane brought 288 Turks from Libya as civil unrest continues to spread across the country.
Hundreds of people have been killed in Libya since protests broke out across the North African nation a week ago. In the capital, Tripoli, and cities of Benghazi, Bayda and Tobruk, people took to the streets to demonstrate against Muammar Gaddafi’s 42-year reign.
Turkish FM: People’s demands should be respected
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said regarding the ongoing protests in Libya that people’s demands should be respected.
Turkey has displayed its stance clearly about the protests from the beginning which is respects towards people’s lives and demands as well as prevent violence, said Davutoglu who spoke to reporters at Turkish Embassy in Tunis on Monday.
When asked about the claims that Libya’s warplanes bombed some regions, Dvutoglu said, "we cannot give up freedom for security, as well as security for freedom."
People in the region would set the future of Libya, said Davutoglu, adding that Turkey would always be in solidarity to create a stable, peaceful and democratic atmosphere.
