Iran’s president said on Monday that Turkey and Iran had a common history and future.
Mahmud Ahmadi-Nejad said Turkey and Iran also had common interests, responsibilities and enemies.
Turkey and Iran had possibilities and potential to introduce a model economic order and cooperation to the world, Ahmadi-Nejad said during Turkish-Iranian Business Council meeting in Tehran.
Turkey’s President Abdullah Gul, who is paying a formal visit to the Iranian capital, also participated in the meeting.
The Iranian president said international relations should be based on justice, and if there was justice, everybody would win and peace, friendship and security would be ensured.
However, the current economic order lacked those features, Ahmadi-Nejad said.
Ahmadi-Nejad said the reason of many clashes, invasions and social turmoil was unfair economic relations.
Iran and Turkey should respond to the needs of the world, and the world was after a model economic order comprised of development, justice, friendship and affection, Ahmadi-Nejad said.
Ahmadi-Nejad said Iran and Turkey could share their experiences and cooperate in agriculture, energy, biotechnology, aviation, industry, trade, tourism, culture, banking and engineering, and called on Turkish and other foreign businessmen to invest in oil, natural gas, petrochemicals, construction and tourism in his country.
Turkey could be a bridge in transporting the energy around Iran and the Caspian Sea to the world, Ahmadi-Nejad said.
Ahmadi-Nejad said Turkey-Iran foreign trade volume was over 10 billion USD, and two countries aimed to raise it to 30 billion USD in the possible shortest time.
The Iranian president also expressed belief that Turkish-Iranian cooperation had a bright future.
