Turkish banking sector’s services incomes increased 4 percent to 14.38 billion Turkish lira last year.
Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency released its report on Turkish banking sector for December 2010.
Accordingly, banking sector’s total non-interest incomes increased 551 million TL and sales gain climbed 470 million TL to 891 million TL in 2010.
In the same period, sector’s operating costs rose 12.6 percent to 23.63 billion TL in line with the increase in personnel expenses and promotion costs.
Banks spent 1.2 billion TL as personnel expenses and 348 million TL for credit card and banking services promotions.
The rate of services incomes meeting operating costs was down to 60.9 percent from 66.1 percent in the last one year.
Number of personnel in the banking sector increased 6,975 to 191,180 in 2010. Meanwhile, number of bank branches reached 10,066.
Last year, public banks employed 2,379 new personnel and opened 228 new branches.
