MOSCOW, Jan 24 (AFP) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko said Monday he planned to reconsider the privatization last June of Krivorijstal, the country's largest steel producer.
"We will re-examine the question of the privatization of Krivorijstal," Yushchenko said during a visit here, according to Russian news agencies.
A consortium formed by two Ukrainian businessmen, Viktor Pinchuk, son-in-law of former president Leonid Kuchma, and Rinat Akhmetov, the richest man in Ukraine, bought 93 percent of the shares in the company for 800 million dollars (613 million euros).
But the bidding procedure was seen as discriminatory against foreign bidders, who had offered more than a billion dollars for the facility.
