Christian Slater Unhurt After Knife Attack Outside London Theatre

American actor Christian Slater avoided injury on Friday evening when a man charged at him with a knife outside the Gielgud Theatre in central London, police and press reports confirmed Monday.

Slater, 35, had just finished a performance in a stage adaptation of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” when the assailant approached. A bodyguard stepped between them and sustained a cut to the arm. Metropolitan Police said the knife had penetrated the 44-year-old minder’s clothing. The actor himself was unharmed.

Officers were investigating the incident. The production had closed as planned on Saturday, completing a run that began at the Edinburgh Arts Festival the previous August. The part was made famous by Jack Nicholson in the 1975 film version of Ken Kesey’s novel.

Slater is known for earlier films including “Heathers,” “True Romance,” and “Broken Arrow.”
