A passenger aboard a Turkish Airlines flight en route from Oslo to İstanbul has tried to hijack the plane as it descended to land at İstanbul’s Atatürk international airport.

He was subdued by the passengers and flight attendees before being taken into custody upon landing.

A person who put on a mask while the plane was in Bulgarian airspace made for the cockpit shouting threats and said there was a bomb in his hand. He also demanded that the plane return to Oslo.

The passanger reported to be called Cuma Yaşar was overpowered by the passengers and flight personnel and the plane landed at Atatürk airport without problem at around 21 hours last night.

Cuma YaÅŸar who was ascertained to have no bomb was taken off the plane by the police and whisked to the airport security department where he was taken into custody.

He later went through a health check-up at the Bakırköy Mental Hospital before brought back to the security department at the airport.
