Istanbul Stock Exchange (ISE) is celebrating the 25th year of its foundation.
ISE was founded on December 26, 1985, and began operating on January 3, 1986 with the aim of providing security and stability in transactions of stocks and shares.
ISE has been contributing to development of Turkish capital market and economy since the day it was established.
It is an autonomous and professional institution.
The general assembly, comprised of ISE members, is the highest decision-making organ of the stock exchange. ISE executive board is comprised of a chairman and four members.
Huseyin Erkan, who has been the chairman of ISE since November 2, 2007, told A.A on Saturday that ISE had 40 companies in 1986, and its daily trading volume was nearly 50,000 USD.
Erkan said that 337 stocks were traded in ISE this year, and daily trading volume was 1.7 billion USD.
Erkan said that in the aspect of performance, ISE ranked the third among members of World Federation of Exchanges last year.
