Baghdad water supply hit by sabotage

BAGHDAD, Jan 20 (AFP) - Insurgents blew up a main water line in Baghdad, cutting supplies by 30 to 40 percent, a coalition official said Thursday.
"It was four or five days ago. It was something like 18 metres (yards) down and they knew exactly what they hit," the senior official said, speculating that saboteurs had dropped a bomb down a manhole.
"It affected 30 to 40 percent (of Baghdad's water) ... It certainly screwed up the water supply," the official said. "This is the first time."
Baghdad residents have complained for several days of being without water.
