Turkish Foreign Ministry welcomed the establishment of new government of Iraq under the leadership of Iraqi Premier Nuri al-Maliki.
The ministry stated on Tuesday that Turkey would continue to support the efforts of the new government to solve Iraqi people`s security, political, economic and social problems.
The ministry conveyed good wishes to the new government which would undertake big responsibilities in a historic period when Iraq fully gained its sovereignty and integrated with the international community.
We congratulate Prime Minister al-Maliki and government members, and wish success, said the ministry.
Foreign Ministry added that the establishment of the new government on the basis of national consensus as well as a comprehensive and fair share of power would contribute to stability and democratization efforts.
Iraqi lawmakers unanimously approved on Tuesday the new government to be headed by al-Maliki, ending nine months of political deadlock. Lawmakers approved 29 ministers including al-Maliki to form the new government.
