PRESIDENT EROGLU HAD A SUCCESSFULL HEART OPERATION IN ANKARA
It has been announced that blocked heart artery of the TRNC President Dervis Eroglu has been replaced by a successful operation in Ankara. The TRNC Presidency made the following statement regarding the operation.
“President Eroglu had a successful heart operation in Ankara at private Güven Hospital. The operation was performed by Prof.Dr.Haldun Karagoz and his team and started at 18:00. Eroglu is in intensive care unit since the completion of the operation at 20:00. At the end of the operation Prof. Dr. Karagoz stated that it has been a very successful operation and that President Eroglu shall be in intensive care unit for 24 hours.
WEAK BELIEF IN HIGH LEVEL CONTACT GROUP
CTB-BG Lefkosa MP Sibel Siber has stated that the Turkish Cypriot people have weak belief in that the EU’s High Level Contact Group with Turkish Cypriots shall be able to fulfill its mission perfectly.
In a letter to EU Parliament President Prof.Jerzy Buzek Sibel Siber stated that it would be more appropriate for the Contact group to stay in Turkish side instead of the Greek Side since their main aim is to visit Turkish Cypriots.
Siber asked that president to evaluate the activities of the group and said that the group should be trusted by the Turkish Cypriots
Sibel also said that in the meeting in Strasbourg in September only 4 members out of 8 of the contact group participated in the meeting and added that the other 4 members put forward some excuses and avoided to contact with the representatives of the Turkish Cypriot people.
21-25 DECEMBER STRUGGLE AND MARTYRS WEEK SHALL BE COMMEMORATED
The 21st of December – Struggle and Martyrs’ Week shall be commemorated this week.
A series of events will take place throughout the Republic within the framework of the events commemorating the martyrs on the anniversary of the launch of attacks against the Turks of Cyprus by Greek Cypriots and Greeks on the 21st of December 1963.
The Struggle and Martyrs’ Week ceremonies will start with a speech on Tuesday morning by an officer from the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces, which will be aired live on Bayrak Radio.
Later, a special ceremony will take place in front of the Martyrs’ Monument in Lefkosa at 9.30 am.
A second ceremony will be held at the Lefkosa Open Education Faculty at 10:15 am.
Later at 6 pm, a speech by an officer by the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces will be broadcast on BRT television Similar ceremonies will be held in all major towns and cities around the republic throughout the week in memory of those who fell during 1963 and 1974.
