Israeli security cabinet gives green light to Gaza invasion

JERUSALEM, Jan 19 (AFP) - The Israeli security cabinet gave the green light Wednesday for military commanders to prepare for a large-scale invasion of the Gaza Strip if Palestinian attacks do not stop, public radio reported.
The unanimous decision of Prime Minister Ariel Sharobn`s inner circle of ministers was made during their first meeting since the installation of a new coalition government last week.
New Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas is currently in the Gaza Strip for talks aimed at securing a ceasefire by militant groups.
But Israel has warned that it would give him only a limited amount of time to secure results before taking matters into its own hands.
