Zarqawi group claims deadly attack on Iraqi security forces: website

DUBAI, Jan 17 (AFP) - The Al-Qaeda linked group of Jordanian fugitive Abu Musab al-Zarqawi claimed responsibility for a deadly attack Monday near the restive Iraqi town of Baquba, in a statement posted on the Internet.
"This morning, one of the lions of the martyrs brigade from the Al-Qaeda Group in the Land of Two Rivers (Iraq) launched a heroic attack against the bases of infidelity and tyranny in the town of Baquba," it said.
"We warn all the servants of the Jews and Christians: your fate will be to suffer on this earth and in the afterlife," said the statement, whose authenticity could not be verified.
Eight Iraqis, seven of them members of the Iraqi army, were killed in the attack on a checkpoint near Baquba, as assailants opened up with gunfire and grenades, medical and security sources said.
