NEW YORK, Jan 14 (AFP) - The diversified consumer products group Sara Lee is aiming to sell its European apparel operations following a strategic review, a company spokeswoman said Friday.
"We initiated a strategic review of our activities in Europe," spokeswoman Julie Ketay told AFP.
"As a result of that review, we've just decided to formally explore the selling of all Sara Lee apparel business in Europe."
The French regional daily Saone et Loire reported that employees in France were informed about the sale of the European operations.
"Our objective was to examine the overall performance of the business," the spokeswoman said, adding that it was too soon to speculate on buyers.
One of the Sara Lee brands that would be sold is Dim, maker of undergarments and pantyhose. Sara Lee also owns the Playtex brand, along with Pretty Polly in Britain, Watter in Germany, LovaBle in Italy and Sans in Spain.
