BERLIN, Jan 13 (AFP) - Supporters of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein plan a congress in Berlin in March to discuss the US-led war in Iraq and express solidarity with the former regime, state authorities said on Thursday.
"We are going to watch it closely," said Berlin city-state Interior Minister Ehrhart Koerting.
But he said there was currently no reason to ban the March 12 gathering, organised in part by a group of left-wing extremists.
In October, Berlin authorities banned an "Arab and Islamic Conference in Europe" aimed at displaying solidarity with Iraqis and the Palestinians, amid allegations that the meeting was anti-Semitic.
