WASHINGTON, Jan 13 (AFP) - An US AV-8B Harrier jet crashed off the west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia while on a training mission over international waters, but its pilot ejected safely, the US Marine Corps said Thursday.
The jet, which crashed 45 miles off Sumatra, was from the USS Bonhomme Richard, a helicopter carrier that has been aiding tsunami relief efforts in Sumatra.
"The pilot safely ejected from the aircraft and was successfully recovered by embarked Search and Rescue helicopter. The pilot sustained only minor injuries," the Marines said.
