Georgia troop reinforcment in Iraq delayed

TBILISI, Jan 13 (AFP) - A scheduled deployment this month to Iraq of additional troops from Georgia has been delayed until next month, the Georgian defense ministry said here Thursday.
An additional battalion of troops was to be airlifted to Iraq aboard US military troop transport aircraft, the ministry said in a statement. The delay was due to a change in date made by US authorities for "technical" reasons, it added.
Some 300 Georgian troops are currently deployed in Iraq as part of a US-led coalition there.
