SARIGUL: NOBODY CAN PREVENT REALIZATION OF THE WILL OF PEOPLE
SAMSUN (AA) - ''Nobody can prevent the realization of the will of people through anti-democratic means,'' Sisli Mayor Mustafa Sarigul from CHP (Republican People's Party) said on Wednesday. Sarig?a candidate for the party chairmanship.
Sarigul arrived in western Black Sea city Samsun to hold contacts prior to the extraordinary convention of the Republican People's Party (CHP) scheduled to begin on January 29th. He said, ''our nation waits for a change in CHP.''
Replying to the questions of reporters, Sarigul said the convention should be open to public, stating that, ''CHP should hold its extraordinary convention in the big hall which has 25 thousand people capacity.''
Sarigul also said doors of the party would be open to everybody if he is elected (chairman).
Meanwhile Hakki Ulku, the CHP Parliamentarian from Aegean city of Izmir, stated that Zulfu Livaneli will also run for the chairmanship (of the party). Ulku said they asked Livaneli to run.
On the other hand the program of 13th Extraordinary Convention of CHP, which will be held on January 29th and 30th, was announced today (Wednesday). The extraordinary convention will convene upon a call from CHP leader Deniz Baykal.
Following the opening speech of Baykal, election will take place for leadership. Convention will end after election of 80 permanent and 20 standby members of the Party Assembly, and 15 permanent and 15 standby members of the High Discipline Board.
