Tripartite Security Meeting Ends

ANKARA (AA) - The tripartite meeting between Turkish, Iraqi and American officials on security in Iraq has ended.
     After a five hour meeting, Turkey's Iraq Special Representative Ambassador Osman Koruturk read the joint statement.
     Koruturk remarked that the meeting was attended by the three countries' civilian and military officials in order to stop terrorist threats to Turkey from northern Iraq and facilitate cooperation among the three nations to wipe away terrorist cells in the region.
     According to Koruturk, Turkish and Iraqi delegations have agreed on cooperating against the PKK/KONGRA-GEL terrorist organization. ''The U.S. officials welcomed the agreement between Turkey and Iraq on the fight against PKK/KONGRA-GEL terrorist organization. The U.S. officials showed willingness to cooperate with third parties in the fight against PKK/KONGRA-GEL,'' said Koruturk.
     The tripartite meeting was attended by Ambassador Koruturk, Iraq's Deputy Foreign Minister Hamid El Bayati and U.S. Department of State Deputy Undersecretary Ambassador Laura Kennedy.
