Gul: We Should Confess That We Could Not Be Very Successful In Assisting To South Asian Countries

ANKARA (AA) - ''We should confess that we could not be very successful in assisting to South Asian countries victimized by a natural disaster despite the perseverance of our government,'' Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Tuesday.
     Gul said the Turkish Red Crescent (Kizilay) sent a very big team to the region and noted this team would stay there for three months.
     Gul urged Turkish people to show more sensibility to increase the amount of aid, emphasizing that amount of the aid made by Turkey reached 9 million U.S. dollars.
    
     -''WE WILL ATTRIBUTE IMPORTANCE TO AFRICA''-
     Gul said Turkey would attribute more importance to Africa this year, stating that, ''this should not only be in commercial sense, but Turkey should be interested in humanitarian issues of the continent and should make contributions. Thanks God Turkey could heal its wounds and reached to the level of showing interest in foreign countries.''
