INNSBRUCK (AA) - Turkish State Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Sahin met the Governor of Austrian state of Tirol, Dr. Herwig Van Staa. Sahin is in Innsbruck to attend the meeting of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) Executive Board.
During his meeting with the Turkish delegation, Staa assured Sahin that, in the event Erzurum is awarded hosting the 2009 Winter Universiade, they will assist in the construction of new facilities in Erzurum. Some of the actual facilities in Palandoken, Erzurum, were constructed by Austrian firms, it was reported. Austrian companies have made offers to Sahin and his delegation about new facilities, including cable railways, gondola, multi-purpose athletic center, ice-skating rings, etc. Sahin and some of the members of his delegation are expected to remain for a few more days in Innsbruck, if Erzurum gets the hosting of the 2009 winter university games, in order to observe the opening ceremonies of the 2005 winter university games.
