NEW YORK (AA) - A welcome ceremony was held on Sunday for 18 Turkish students who will be educated at the State University of New York (SUNY) within the framework of cooperation between SUNY and Istanbul Technical University (ITU), a leading Turkish university.
10 Turkish students will participate in academic activities aboard Maritime's training vessel and eight will be educated on marine engineering for two years at the SUNY Maritime College. They will get diplomas from both ITU and SUNY Maritime College at the end of their education.
Prof. Dr. Osman Kamil Sag, the Dean of ITU's Maritime Faculty, told A.A correspondent that these Turkish students would have two-year education in the United States and two-year education in Turkey, and get diplomas from both of the universities.
Expressing belief that these students could find better jobs in Turkey and international markets, Sag said that 37 Turks, who were attending English preparatory class in Turkey currently, would start the same program next year, and this number would gradually increase.
Sag added that they aimed to launch a similar post-graduate and doctorate programs.
