Turkey's Assistance To Northern Cyprus Exceeds 3 Billion Dollars

LEFKOSA (AA) - Turkey's assistance to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) between 1974 and 2004 has reached 3 billion 71 million 289 thousand 980 U.S. dollars.
     According to the report on ''Economic Developments and Infrastructure Investments in TRNC'', Turkey has kept alive TRNC economy by meeting defense expenses, producing projects, making investments in electricity, providing encouragement and loans to investors and making huge investments in important areas such as education and health.''
     ''Turkey plans to provide assistance worth of 356 million 921 thousand 167 U.S. dollars to TRNC in 2005,'' noted the report.
     TRNC economy has the best indications last year. National income per capita was 7,350 U.S. dollars, and gross national product increased to 1 billion 604 million U.S. dollars.
