CROWLEY SAYS THEY DISCUSSED THEIR MISSILE SHIELD SYSTEM WITH TURKEY

US State Department Spokesman Philip Crowley said that they have discussed their missile shield system planned for Europe with Turkey.

Answering a question in his daily press briefing, Crowley said that they had discussed their missile shield system with Turkey to be established in cooperation with NATO and had a meeting with Turkish officials yesterday in the context of NATO Foreign Ministers and Defense Ministers.

Crowley said that defense against Iranian long range missiles lies behind the Gradual Warning System Model and he thinks that their European allies are aware of an open threat to them from Iranian missiles.
