LEFKOSA (AA) - President Rauf Denktas of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said, ''the decision of TRNC government to open ports to Greek Cypriot trade is a good opening.''
Replying questions of reporters on Saturday, Denktas said, ''TRNC made an opening and invited Greek Cypriot side to use TRNC ports in the aspect of humanity. However it is very thought-provoking that Greek Cypriots did not accept this invitation even in the aspect of humanity.''
''It should be known that Greek Cypriots will take no notice of TRNC's gestures and calls for consensus. By the time TRNC people will say 'I do not give up my independence and state even if I die', then Greek Cypriots will take us into consideration,'' he added.
Regarding Annan Plan, Denktas said, ''efforts to bring Annan Plan to table again are wrong. Due to its content, the Plan abolished itself when one of the sides rejected it.''
