PHOENIX, Arizona, Jan 11 (AFP) - The Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday officially announced the signing of outfielder Shawn Green from the Los Angeles Dodgers for catcher Dioner Navarro and righthanders William Juarez, Danny Muegge and Beltran Perez.
Initially involved in last month's proposed 10-player deal involving the Diamondbacks, Dodgers and New York Yankees, Green waived the no-trade clause in his contract upon being offered a three-year contract extension by Arizona.
Green's extension, worth a reported 30 million dollars, is through the 2007 season with a mutual option for 2008.
"I couldn't be happier with the change for me. I've always loved coming in here," Green said.
"It's only been a short history for the ballclub, but the things the Diamondbacks have been able to accomplish have been incredible."
Last week, the Diamondbacks and Dodgers had agreed on a deal for Green and it was approved by commissioner Bud Selig, but Arizona was unable to reach an agreement on an extension with the outfielder before the ensuing 48-hour window expired.
The 32-year-old Green is coming off a sub-par season in which he batted just .266 with 28 homers and 86 RBI in 157 games.
He has topped the 40-homer plateau three times, however, including a career-high 49 to go with 125 RBI in his second season with the Dodgers in 2001.
His 162 home runs during his five years with Los Angeles marked the seventh-highest total in Dodgers history.
Green will become the third major acquisition for the Diamondbacks this offseason following a dreadful 111-loss campaign - three years after a World Series title.
