ANKARA - Turkish Prime Minister and chairman of ruling Justice & Development (AK) Party Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Tuesday that they thought the first week of June was the most appropriate date to hold general elections.
Speaking at a meeting of his party's group, Erdogan said, "as of March, we will be entering general election process."
Erdogan said that they would hold meetings with related institutions, and set a certain timetable for the general elections. He added that they would begin election activities as soon as Higher Board of Election announced the official election timetable.
If elections are held in the first week of June, we will have eight months to get prepared, Erdogan noted.
