Pop singer Aaron Carter escaped without injury early Friday after his Cadillac Escalade caught fire on a Florida highway, according to the Sun Sentinel.
Carter, 17, was driving toward Orlando when a mattress dropped from a delivery truck and became lodged beneath his SUV, igniting a blaze. He managed to pull the vehicle over before the fire spread to the cabin. A friend who was with him was also treated at the scene.
In a statement, Carter said the incident left him shaken: "It was like the mattress flew out of nowhere."
Spokesman Brad Zeifman confirmed the details to the Florida newspaper, noting that Carter had been in Orlando for a photo session connected to an upcoming album. Carter is the younger brother of Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter.
