Two-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey will portray the iconic villain Lex Luthor in Warner Bros.' upcoming Superman film, according to Variety. Newcomer Brandon Routh takes the title role, previously held by the late Christopher Reeve.
Director Bryan Singer is set to begin production in Sydney on 3 March. Warner Bros. is also in talks with Kate Bosworth for the role of Lois Lane. Spacey, currently fulfilling duties as artistic director at London's Old Vic theatre, will not arrive in Australia until August.
Spacey and Bosworth recently shared the screen in his Bobby Darin biography "Beyond the Sea," now playing in US theaters.
