PARIS, Jan 7 (AFP) - Football governing bodies FIFA and UEFA are planning to stage a fundraising match in February to raise money for the victims of the Asian tsunami disaster.
"Various federations annouced their wish to to organise charity matches with a view to donating the revenue to the solidarity fund," said a FIFA statement on Friday.
"FIFA and UEFA have decided to organise a solidarity match at a major stadium in Europe in February."
The confirmed death toll from the catastrophe, which hit south Asia on December 26, soared more than 7,000 Friday to 153,428.
