Turkey`s president flew to the United States on a nine-day visit on Friday.
President Abdullah Gul will participate in the 65th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly and hold talks in the United States.
On September 23 Gul will address the participants of the UN General Assembly. In the afternoon of September 23, Gul will chair a session at the UN Security Council.
President Gul will hold bilateral meetings with many heads of state and government while in New York. He will deliver speeches at various think-tank organizations and give interviews to many media groups, including the New York Times.
Gul will meet Turkish citizens living in New York and later hold talks with Turkish academicians in Boston.
President Gul is expected to leave the United States for Turkey on September 25.

Speaking to reporters prior to his departure for New York at Istanbul`s Ataturk International Airport, President Gul said that the General Assembly meetings will take place during Turkey`s Term Presidency at the UN Security Council and "as such, carry special importance for Turkey".
Reminding journalists that he will attend various meetings while in New York, Gul said that he would address the UN General Assembly on Thursday, September 23.
I will also meet with the representatives of the Turkish community living in the United States in New York, Gul stressed.
At a time of Turkey`s presidency at the UN Security Council, my participation in the meetings of the UN General Assembly will be beneficial to inform the international community at the highest level on our attitude regarding international events and our priorities in foreign policy, Gul said.
I will depart from the United States on September 25, Gul also said.
