Turkish Main Opposition Party Leader In Brussels

The leader of Turkey's main opposition party met with European Socialists' Party President Poul Nyrup Rasmussen on the second day of his visit to Brussels.
Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu told reporters following the meeting which lasted for about 45 minutes, "we set a road map to develop our cooperation. We will put into practice that road map by holding a series of seminars."
He expressed hope that Rasmussen and his friends would make valuable contributions to Turkey in its European Union membership process.
"I also informed Rasmussen on the constitutional amendment package in Turkey. He also highlighted importance of independent judiciary and free media," he added.
Meanwhile, Rasmussen said that he admired the new leader of the CHP.
Referring to the constitutional amendment package which was approved following Sunday's referendum, Rasmussen said that Turkey made some progress, but there were still many things to do.
Earlier in the day, Kilicdaroglu met with European Commissioner for enlargement Stefan Fule.
