ANKARA, Jan 5 (AFP) - Turkey on Wednesday brought down to nine the number of its nationals still unaccounted for after the Indian Ocean tsunami disaster.
The earlier figure had stood at 16.
Officials were still looking for seven Turks in Thailand, and one each in Sri Lanka and Malaysia, a Turkish diplomat said on condition of anonymity.
Only one Turkish national, a woman honeymooning in Thailand, has so far been confirmed as dead. She was buried in an emotional ceremony in Istanbul on Tuesday.
Nearly 146,000 people have been confirmed killed on December 26 when a massive earthquake off Indonesia unleashed killer tsunamis in the Indian Ocean.
