The Turkish lira slightly lost against the U.S. dollar, but slightly gained against Euro on Tuesday. One U.S. dollar traded at 1.5110 and Euro at 1.9290 at Istanbul free market.
Turkish stock market was down 0.58 percent. The benchmark National-100 index of the Istanbul Stock Exchange dropped 354.21 points since the beginning of the day. The index closed at 60,746.75 points.
A total of 47 kilograms of gold was traded at the Istanbul Gold Exchange (IAB). The trading volume was 424.950 Turkish liras in three transactions on TL-basis and it was 1.6 million USD in 13 transactions on USD-basis.
The Interbank Turkish Lira Reference Interest Rate (TRLIBOR) -- overnight interest rate -- dropped to 6.9013 percent.
The amount of money in circulation was up on Monday. According to the Central Bank data released on Tuesday, the volume of Turkish currency in circulation rose 1.7 billion TL in a day to 48.6 billion TL. The bank said money in circulation was 46.3 billion TL on Friday.
The industrial production index was up 8.6 percent in July 2010 over July 2009, Turkey's statistical board (TurkStat) said. TurkStat released the industrial production index in July 2010, and said the index was up 8.6 percent year-on-year in this month. The industrial production index was down 0.3 percent in July 2010 over June 2010.
Treasury Undersecretariat sold net 1.8 billion Turkish liras (TL) of TRY-denominated zero-coupon bonds. The Treasury held an auction to sell 595-day (20-month) TRY-denominated zero-coupon bonds. It sold nominal 2.1 billion TL and net 1.8 billion TL of bonds. The composite interest rate was 8.13 percent, and the nominal bid was 6.8 billion TL in the auction.
Central Bank expects Turkey's year-end inflation to be 7.50 percent. CB announced the results of first-term survey of expectation of September. The bank increased the year-end inflation to 7.50 percent. It was 7.34 percent in the second-term survey of August.
