Erdogan: We Will Not Repeat Mistakes Of The Past In Negotiation Process With The Eu In The Coming Period

ANKARA (AA) - ''We will not repeat mistakes of the past in negotiation process with the European Union (EU) in the coming period,'' Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday.
     Speaking after meeting of ''Turkish Regional and Sectoral Economy Council'', Erdogan said, ''as the public and private sector we will work as a team.''
     Erdogan said relations with the EU were discussed at the Council meeting, stating that they had the opportunity to emphasize the assignments and responsibilities of private sector in relations with the EU in the coming period.
     Erdogan said the government would continue its efforts to simplify tax systems, fight against unregistered economy, broaden tax base and drop tax rate step by step.
     Erdogan also stated that tourism sector was discussed at the meeting, noting that, ''Turkey made an important step in tourism sector in the past two years with respect to number of tourists and foreign exchange income. Tourism will help Turkey integrate with the world.''
     State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullatif Sener in his part said all the obstacles pertaining to bureaucracy would be discussed at the first meeting of Economy Coordination Committee meeting.
     Sener said State Planning Organization (DPT) would assess all the problems and proposals of the sectors.
     Meanwhile, Union of Turkish Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) Chairman Rifat Hisarciklioglu said Turkey left behind the crisis periods and started to look at future with confidence.
     Hisarciklioglu said as the businessmen they would be in an effort to make Turkey among the first 10 biggest economies of the world.
