TWO FULL-DAY TALKS TO BE HOLD TOMORROW AND FRIDAY
President Dervis Eroglu and Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias will hold two full-day talks tomorrow and Friday to discuss the issue of `property'. The two sides in Cyprus are expected to pass on their detailed proposals on the property issue to each other today ahead of full-day negotiations at these meetings. The Turkish side will be handing over a 60-70 page proposal on the thorny issue.
The detailed proposals will be taken up by TRNC President Dervis Eroglu and Greek Cypriot Leader Demetris Christofias at the two full day meetings to be held this week.
The first full day meeting which had originally been scheduled for Tuesday, the 7th of September, was postponed a day in order to give the two sides enough time to evaluate the proposals.
The two leaders had exchanged their proposals on property verbally at last Friday's meeting.
Speaking afterwards, President Dervis Eroglu had said that they will be engaging in serious and detailed discussions on the property issue when they meet later this week.
"Comprehensive and detailed proposals on the property issue will be on the table. We shall discuss them in detail and seek a solution to the property issue. We shall see if we will be able to meet at a common point or not" he told reporters.
EROGLU TO BRIEF POLITICAL PARTIES
President Dervis Eroglu is briefing political parties with seats in parliament on course of the Cyprus negotiations process in this morning. The President will come together with leaders and representatives of political parties at the Presidential Palace at 9 o'clock.
BAGIS : "GREEK CYPRIOTS UNDERMINING EUROPEAN INTERESTS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE"
Turkish State Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagys said that Turkey was the part of a solution to the problems of Europe today however the Greeks did not allow Turkey to pass through a just and reasonable negotiations period. He said that the time has come to say stop Turkey was the part of a solution to the problems of Europe today however the Greeks did not allow Turkey to pass through a just and reasonable negotiations period to them.
Bagys : " It is not acceptable that 450 thousand Greeks Cypriots undermine the interests 490 million Europeans. Turkey is the part of a solution to the problems of Europe today however the Greeks did not allow Turkey to pass through a just and reasonable negotiations period."
HELLIM REGISTERED
The Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry succeeded in registering Hellim as a place of origin product from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus with the Turkish Patent Institute. The certificate OF Geographical Sign was presented to the President of the Chamber Ali Çyraly by the TPI President Prof. Dr. Habip Asan with a ceremony.
In his speech at the ceremony, Çyraly stressed the importance of registering Hellim, which is part of Cyprus culture, with the Turkish Patent Institute.
Reminding that the Cheese Producers Union in South Cyprus applied to the Greek Cypriot Administration to push its own place of designated origin application through the European Union on hellim, he said the Chamber is continuing a political and legal battle against Greek Cypriot attempts to present hellim as part of their own culture.
Another speech was delivered by Prime Minister Irsen Küçük who underlined the need for all to accept the fact that hellim is part of the Cyprus Turkish and Greek Cypriot cultures.
Noting that hellim being produced in the TRNC is better in quality than those being produced in South Cyprus, Küçük said "Greek Cypriot families have been buying hellim produced by Cyprus Turkish women since the opening of the border gates".
Following the ceremony, a panel session was also held on geographical sign.
SIGNATURES FOR SAKINE
It was stated that Kamu-Sen gathered signatures in order to escape `Sakine', 43 years old Iranian woman who was punished for committing adultery by being buried until her throat and thrown stones. A letter consists of signatures of 60 organizations was given to Turkey's Lefkosa Ambassador Kaya Turkmen to transfer it to the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Turkmen said that he will transfer the letter to Erdogan as soon as possible.
President of Kamu-Sen Mehmet Ozkardas said that Iran regime does not recognize the world and there was lack of democracy and inhumanity.
Related to this issue, Ozkardas invited UN, EU and Organizations of Human Rights to do their best.
