Senior Military Officers Visit Anitkabir On Victory Day

Senior military officers visited Anitkabir, the Mausoleum of Ataturk--the Founder of Turkish Republic, in Ankara on the Victory Day.
Turkey is celebrating the 88th anniversary of August 30 Victory Day.
As part of celebrations, Turkey's Chief of General Staff Gen. Isik Kosaner, Land Forces Commander Gen. Erdal Ceylanoglu, Naval Forces Commander Admiral Esref Ugur Yigit, Air Forces Commander Gen. Hasan Aksay and Gendarmery General Commander Gen. Necdet Ozel visited Anitkabir.
Some other senior military officers also accompanied them.
Gen. Kosaner left a wreath on Ataturk's Mausoleum, and the group observed a minute of silence afterwards.
Kosaner later signed Anitkabir Special Register, and wrote that the August 30 victory not only constituted a turning point for Turkey's history but also paved the way for establishment of the Republic, which secured unity and solidarity of the Turkish nation and helped Turkey take its place among contemporary civilizations.
August 30 Victory Day is the commemoration of the victory at the final battle in Dumlupinar, ending the Turkish Independence War in 1922, dedicated to the armed forces.
