ANKARA, Jan 4 (AFP) - Turkey said Tuesday that it still had no news over the fate of 16 nationals after the Indian Ocean tsunami disaster.
Officials were still looking for 12 people in Thailand, two in Sri Lanka, one each in Malaysia and India, a Turkish diplomat said on condition of anonymity.
Only one Turkish national, a woman honeymooning in Thailand, has so far been confirmed as dead.
Some 3,000 Turks were believed to be in the region on December 26 when a massive earthquake off Indonesia unleashed killer tsunamis in the Indian Ocean.
Nearly 146,000 people have been killed in the disaster.
