Red Crescent Team Leaves For Southern Asia

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish Red Crescent team left for southern Asia which was hit by earthquake and tsunami disaster last week.
     Red Crescent Director General Talat Yilmaz told reporters at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport on Monday, ''the team will assess the situation in the region. We will open offices at several centers in the region. We will provide education, health, psychological therapy services to people at these offices. This assistance of Red Crescent is not a short-term initiative. Maybe we would be there for years.''
     The team will go to Bangkok and then to Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Thailand respectively. It will undertake responsibility of one town in each country and will provide food and health services to 500 families and 2500 people.
     Turkish Red Crescent team will contact with national Red Crescent, Red Cross associations and international organizations in the region.
