LONDON, Jan 2 (AFP) - Plans are underway to organise a huge charity concert in Wales' 70,000-capacity Millennium Stadium in the city of Cardiff, with all profits going to the victims of the Asian tsunami disaster.
Paul Sergeant, general manager of the stadium, said the date of January 22 had already been retained for the event, which he said could raise a million pounds (1.4 million euros, 1.9 million dollars).
"We have already been in touch with a number of A-list celebrities and of course they are the vital ingredient in this," he said.
"I can't say at this point who they are but if two or three of them come on board we will have something to sell.
"If that happened I think the whole thing could snowball and the event could become huge very quickly."
British music stars, including Cliff Richard, Boy George and opera singer Russell Watson announced Saturday they would release a charity single to raise money for the victims of last Sunday's quake-driven tidal waves.
